Is Your Sofa Suitable for Professional Cleaning?
Whether a sofa is suitable for professional cleaning depends on its material, construction, condition, soiling and any previous treatment.
Is your sofa suitable for professional cleaning?
Across the Costa del Sol, material, construction, condition and the type of soiling are assessed before work begins. This determines the recommended scope and the improvement that cleaning can reasonably achieve.
What is checked
The assessment looks at the upholstery, the furniture’s construction, its condition, the soiling and any previous treatment. DIY products or earlier professional cleaning may affect what can safely be done next.
The surface fabric is not the whole picture. Fibre composition, finish, furniture construction and current condition can affect the method, so suitability is considered for the individual sofa.
When cleaning has limits
Cleaning may remove soiling, but it cannot reverse fading, abrasion, colour loss, fibre damage or other changes that have become part of the material.
Care guidance may be specific to the textile and the furniture. Sunbrella guidance varies with fabrication and application; Maharam recommends pre-testing its Medium textile in an inconspicuous area and warns against oversaturation and water pooling in seams. These examples do not apply to every sofa.
What to send before an assessment
Send a short description and a few clear photos. A manufacturer label is useful if available, but is not needed to start. For Sunbrella removable cushion casings, consult the furniture manufacturer before removing them, as construction can vary.
Request a cleaning assessment
Contact Prestige Care with the sofa details. If photos do not allow the material or condition to be assessed confidently, the team will explain what else needs checking. The recommended scope and price are explained before work begins.
